Our Westside Story

Our Westside Story is a documentary film project chronicling the past, present and future of Atlanta's Historic Westside. Focusing on the history and development of Atlanta’s historic Westside, Atlanta’s Historic Westside’s story is told through oral history interviews with long standing members of the community.

The film’s intention is to highlight the importance of historic preservation and the urgency of addressing the status of significant buildings that are in peril.

This ongoing project represents a multi-year effort by The Conservancy to collect the cultural evidence of Black Atlanta’s contributions to the city and the world during the 20th century. This film is executive produced by The Conservancy’s Chair, C.J. Jackson, in partnership with film maker John Thornton, professor of digital film studies at Georgia Tech.
